McCain’s speech given at CPAC almost made me want to vomit. He mentioned G-D, conservative values, Ronald Reagan, taxes, illegal immigration (he apologized), and his absence at last year’s conference (apologized again). In my humble opinion it was one of the most pathetic attempts to pander I have ever seen. The only time I became more violently ill is watching Queen Hillary do it, at least she doesn’t try as hard to hide her socialist leanings. He was booed, jeered and met with silence a few times, and this idiot is going to be the nominee!? A little bit of southern knowledge to share with you all, if he were the real deal, he wouldn’t have had to spend all the time he did at the convention “telling” us how much of a conservative he is. It would be obvious were he the real deal. One little nugget during his “speech” was that he would not allow the expansion of entitlement programs (welfare). The idiot should be scaling them back on a huge scale, not giving lip service to the rest of us true conservative Americans, the only true American’s. Sorry lefty’s, that’s just how I feel.
I know we’re all tired of hearing all the Ronald Reagan this, Ronald Reagan that, from every direction these days. It’s a tribute to the man and his accomplishments that his name is invoked so often in the GOP. I don’t much care for the candidates scrambling to claim his mantle though. Can’t be done, it’s a different time, different country. Conservatism has never changed only the players.
In the 80’s I was a teenager and didn’t give two damn’s about politics, without going into detail, we all know what dominates the thoughts of any teenage male and I was no different, probably worse. But for some reason I still have a hard time convincing my niece and daughters that I know exactly what is on the mind of that “boy” scratching around the back door or calling my phone. How could crusty ‘ole TRM know anything about love, emotions and the filthy thoughts of that ‘lil sumbitch calling my house? Enough of that.
Today’s President Reagan’s birthday and if you get a chance, try to think back to the Reagan years and if your like me, you’ll remember what a Grand Old Party it was…
Some Republicans may be rallying around Sen. John McCain as the GOP’s best hope of winning in November, but best-selling author and conservative firebrand Ann Coulter would rather stick to her principles and give up the White House to Hillary than to see the Arizona senator as the White House’s new resident.
On Today’s Show…
Show Highlight: For too long, Republican elites have said to conservatives: “Sacrifice your principles for party unity. Compromise.” A lot of us are fed up with this. If you elites in the GOP, punditry and elsewhere are going to move this party to the left, you’re going to take the hit for what happens.
With John McCain’s all-too-easy road to the nomination paved through Florida and now nearly complete one thing is clear: The Republican Party has been hijacked. Over the past month a new Axis of Evil has emerged — not one based in Damascus, Tehran or Pyongyang — but instead in Cedar Rapids, Charleston, South Carolina, Derry, New Hampshire and Boca Raton, Florida. It is the liberal and “independent” voters in these 4 states that have nearly completed a deed that makes Kim Jong Il envious — the near crippling of the American Electoral System. These four states have combined their native liberal populism with an imported liberal electorate and have forced the GOP to accept a nominee so distasteful that in more than one poll — the numbers of voters choosing not to vote and those choosing to vote third party actually exceed those who will hold their nose and vote for Maverick, War Hero, Amnesty Supporter, John McCain.
The new conventional wisdom is that John McCain’s victory in South Carolina last Saturday is proof that the “conservative establishment” in general, and Rush Limbaugh in particular, are not the political force they once were. In Sunday’s Washington Post, for example, we read this:
Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh stunned his listeners by announcing that he might not support the Republican presidential nominee in this year’s election.
Limbaugh said on Monday’s show: “I can see possibly not supporting the Republican nominee this election, and I never thought that I would say that in my life.”
Traveling through snowy South Carolina with Fred Thompson, I’m struck by the sense that finally, the man has arrived. The candidate so many conservatives were excited by early in 2007 is finally walking the land.
The Fred Thompson in South Carolina this week is the one America saw knock into Mike Huckabee as a pro-life liberal with “blame America first” beliefs whose economic policies would destroy the economy. And the crowds love it.
Unluckily for McCain, snowstorms in Michigan suppressed the turnout among Democratic “Independents” who planned to screw up the Republican primary by voting for our worst candidate. Democrats are notoriously unreliable voters in bad weather. Instead of putting on galoshes and going to the polls, they sit on their porches waiting for FEMA to rescue them.
The 2008 presidential election is the most unusual and most important in many years. It’s been more than five decades since such a race didn’t feature an incumbent President or Vice President. Since World War II, America has not had a presidential election at a time when the stakes were higher. Conservatives have to win this election, and to do so, we have to identify a candidate around whom we all can rally.
Fundamental Beliefs We begin by recalling the profound words of Ronald Reagan at the Conservative Political Action Conference Feb. 15, 1975: “A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency or simply to swell its numbers.” We believed that then, and we believe it now. The issue for us — and for the conservative community — boils down to which of the candidates is most representative of the fundamental conservative principles we believe in.
Fred Thompson has offered more detailed plans to fix what ails this country than all the other candidates combined. Now he’s posted his plan for balancing the budget. Here’s the highlights of the plan:
I know this has been posted all over creation, but what kind of a Fred Head would I be if I didn’t post it as well? After listening to it I stand all the more firm behind him and his ideas for the future of our country. Not once did you hear him bad mouth his running mates unless you count the honest truth he spoke of the democrats. Go Fred Go!
